- Completed Application Form
- Copy of your South African Identity Document
- Copy of your South African unabridged Birth Certificate
- A certified copy of your South African Passport
- Certified copy of your foreign passport
- Certified Copy of your father’s South African ID or passport (if applicable and/or if available)
- Certified Copy of your mother’s South African ID or passport (if applicable and/or if available)
Processing Time
Determination of citizenship takes on average 3 – 6 months to process.
An application for resumption, where required, take on average 6 – 12 months to finalise.

A Determination of Citizenship is ultimately the process in which to verify whether one’s South African Citizenship has been revoked or not. Should one’s South African Citizenship indeed be revoked, one may make application in certain circumstances for the resumption thereof.
